Satoshi Dice Review

Review by, Joe

Oh SatoshiDice, my love. How our love-hate relationship has taken us so far in the past few months. Seriously though, if you haven’t heard of SatoshiDice by now you probably haven’t been in the Bitcoin community for very long. Satoshi Dice is probably the most famous Bitcoin gambling website on the internet, founded in April 2012, it had grown to be one of, if not the largest, Bitcoin gambling websites… well.. ever. According to Wikipedia; In January 2013 they were said to have had over $15 Million in bets. That’s an insane amount of money for that short period of time. I’m not even kidding you when I say that I am extremely jealous of these people.

Now, with my little envious rant out of the way, on with the review! Satoshi Dice offers a very simple concept. You visit the website, deposit some coins, set your bet, and click the button. All very simple. You can also set your odds of winning going from 0.002% to 98% which obviously adjusts your payout at the end. It can be a very fun game to play, whether winning or losing, and this is mainly because of the fact that the website has a free Bitcoin faucet on the site, allowing you to “test the waters” so to speak with small bets. The faucet deposits 200 Satoshis into your account (which is accessed through a private URL, which is great) and allows you to play with that. It’s a great feature that lets you play the game for a while before deciding whether or not you want to risk your Bitcoins on the website.

The UI of the website is slick and stylish, making for a great user experience while you play. It all has a very simplistic style that is not over bearing to new players. It’s honestly a great game to play. The URL feature is great too, like Rushwallet (which I reviewed earlier) your account is managed through a URL which you bookmark in order to keep safe. No passwords, no usernames, no login screens, just a URL that allows fast access for your next gambling fix.

When it comes to winning on this site, there isn’t much to say. You can set your own odds and payouts, which is awesome if you’re not looking to risk a lot of Bitcoin, but can completely wipe you out if you make really stupid bets (just like any casino) so really, just be smart about your gambling. I speak from personal experience when I say that you can make a fair bit of coin off the website if you don’t mind clicking a button over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over again. I got up a few mBit’s before eventually quitting, making off with more Bitcoin than I had when I started, which is always a plus when gambling. I did, however, lose a few hours of my life clicking a button, but you have to take the good with the bad.

Seriously though, if you’re looking for a good time waster that could possibly make you a few extra bucks in the process, then go ahead and give SatoshiDice a try. It’s a rather fun game that will kill a few hours if you’re bored and want to risk money, and even if you don’t, then you could always play with the free coin that they give you on the site. And, as unlikely as it is, that free 200 Satoshis could possibly lead you to more and more money (in which case, consider dropping a tip at my addy in the bottom of this review.)

So go, my future rich people, play the odds and win all the bits, and have fun in the process.

Disclaimer two: SatoshiDice is not a wallet website that you should store your Bitcoins on, just like any online wallet, please do not keep more than 1 BTC on there at any given time, and please do not leave your bitcoin on their website when you are not playing, it’s just not a good idea.
