The Real Grumpy Cat issues legal NFT to memecoin

Grumpy Cat Limited, the official owners of the famous frowning moggy, have issued a cease-and-desist NFT letter to the $GrumpyCat memecoin, claiming that it violates their intellectual property rights.

An official letter was issued to Glauber Contessoto, also know as SlumDOGE Millionaire, through OpenSea last week.

The @RealGrumpyCat account, which has more than 1.5m followers, posted the formal statement on their Twitter today.

The tweet follows Contessoto’s claim that the intellectual property concerns had been resolved.

They state: “To All Cryptocurrency traders holding or considering buying $GRUMPYCAT:
Grumpy Cat Limited (GCL) is the legal owner of all Grumpy Cat related intellectual properties.

“All such offerings being endorsed by @ProTheDoge (SlumDoge Millionaire) and their cohorts are unauthorized, continue to infringe GCL’s intellectual property rights, and are yet further desperate, sad attempt to scam unwitting traders.

“Do not be fooled by these scammers or their lies. No legal issues have been resolved. GCL will never approve such scam coins.

“Any representations by these persons attempting to promote these coins remain scams and lies. Don’t be victimized. Don’t enrich scammers and intellectual property
thieves.”
