Ripple Partners with Mastercard, WebBank, and Gemini to Enable RLUSD Payments

Ripple has announced a partnership with Mastercard, WebBank, and Gemini to enable the use of its RLUSD stablecoin for regular card payments, bringing blockchain-based settlement to everyday payment methods familiar to consumers.

The announcement was made during Ripple Swell 2025, where Ripple pointed out that the project sets a new standard for large institutions by combining regulated digital assets with traditional financial systems.

According to Ripple, the partnership will use the RLUSD stablecoin on the XRP Ledger and support payments with the Gemini Credit Card.

The partners will test using RLUSD to process payments between Mastercard and WebBank, the issuer of the Gemini Credit Card, aiming to make settlements faster, transparent, and fully compliant. The first step will involve adding RLUSD to Mastercard and WebBank settlement systems, which is still pending regulatory approval.

Mastercard said the partnership fits its plan for using regulated digital assets, with a focus on keeping users safe and following the rules. It also lets MasterCard test stablecoin payments while maintaining the same security standards used worldwide.

Ripple and Gemini Promote RLUSD for Faster Card Payments

Gemini said its credit card already helps people use digital assets in daily spending. By adding RLUSD settlement, the company aims to demonstrate how blockchain can enable faster, more efficient payments without changing how people shop.

On the other hand, Ripple President Monica Long highlighted that global institutions are increasingly seeing the benefits of blockchain-based settlement. She explained that RLUSD and the XRP Ledger can help modernize how money moves across financial systems, a trend also reflected in Ripple’s recent large treasury transactions.

Long added that the partnership shows how regulated digital assets can speed up and stabilize card settlements, highlighting the XRP Ledger’s fast processing and low fees as key advantages for institutional payments.
