Satoshi Nakamoto Now 11th Richest in the World After Bitcoin’s New All-time High
Bitcoin has once again exceeded all expectations, surging above the $122,000 mark on Monday, a new record that has catapulted the anonymous founder, Satoshi Nakamoto, into the exclusive club of the world’s richest.
A blockchain analytics company called Arkham estimates that Nakamoto has about 1.096 million BTC, spread over thousands of wallets. At current prices, that stash is worth over $134 billion. The anonymous Bitcoin creator now surpasses some of the most powerful names in tech and finance in terms of net worth.
Satoshi’s Wealth Soars with Bitcoin’s Rally
Bitcoin’s rally this year has been impressive. With institutional adoption, the rise of regulations, positive ETF inflows, and the growing integration into the global financial system, Bitcoin surpassed the $122,000 mark on July 14.
This price rally increased the worth of dormant early-mined coins that were credited to Satoshi Nakamoto to an estimated net worth of between $128 billion and $134 billion.
According to blockchain analytics platform Arkham, these holdings are spread across thousands of untouched wallets, giving him theoretical control over about 5.2% of Bitcoin’s total supply. This valuation places Nakamoto above tech moguls like Michael Dell and behind Sergey Brin on various rich lists.
It should be noted, though, that such wealth is not included in the ranking of traditional publications such as Forbes, primarily because the holdings are not only anonymous but also illiquid. Nevertheless, within the crypto realm, the fortunes of Nakamoto are quite tangible on an economic level despite the coins lying dormant and potentially inaccessible.
Analysts like Bloomberg analyst Eric Balchunas suggest that if Bitcoin does its 50%/annum., Satoshi could soon surpass names like Warren Buffett or even Elon Musk, assuming he chooses to surface or engage with his holdings.
Standard Chartered believes that the price of Bitcoin might reach the target of $135k by the end of this Q3. They further foresee that the leading cryptocurrency might close the year at 200k.
The Mystery of Mysteries: Who Is Satoshi Nakamoto?
The identity of Satoshi Nakamoto has been a nagging question to the minds of many in recent years. The unknown creator vanished after his final posting in 2011. Many people have been speculated over the years to be the person behind the pseudonym, including computer scientists Hal Finney and Nick Szabo.
Speculation recently resurfaced, with a new HBO documentary called Money Electric, hinting that Canadian cryptographer Peter Todd might be Nakamoto. Todd has since denied the claim and has claimed that the true inventor of Bitcoin is unknown.
The most interesting part about the mystery is that the wallets of Satoshi have been left untouched for more than 15 years. His disappearance has allowed Bitcoin to develop without a founder to sway or disrupt its development.
The Billionaire Who Changed the World of Finance
Satoshi Nakamoto becoming the 11th richest person in the world is a big plus to the crypto community. It demonstrates that even one person in full anonymity can help to change the financial world. Upcoming crypto regulations like the CLARITY Act are expected to increase institutional adoption, a move that could send prices soaring.
