ETH Rally Pushes Vitalik Buterin’s Crypto Holdings Back Above $1B

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is an on-chain billionaire again after Ether passed $4,300, with his holdings now worth about $1.04 billion.
Vitalik Buterin’s Net Worth Passes $1B As ETH Price Booms
Vitalik Buterin is a billionaire again after Ether rose above $4,000, pushing his portfolio, holding 240,042 ETH and smaller amounts of tokens like AETHWETH, WHITE, MOODENG, and WETH, past $1 billion.
Buterin became a billionaire for the first time in May 2021 at the age of 27 when ETH reached a new all-time high of $3,000, with his total Ether holding at the time amounting to 333,500, worth $1.029 billion.
In October 2018, he highlighted that his holdings have never exceeded 0.9% of Ethereum’s total supply and that his net worth has never come close to $1 billion.
Despite the bullish momentum, Vitalik has raised concerns about the rapid growth of Ethereum treasury companies, warning against the risk of overleveraging.
Ether Rises Above $4.3K as ETF Flows Surge
While Bitcoin’s market cap declines, Ethereum has surged by 6.38% to $4,332, the highest level reached since December 2024. According to Nansen, Ether was trading at $4,244 at the time of the press release.
Crypto traders have predicted that within the coming days, Ether will regain its November 2021 all-time high of $4,878. Meanwhile, other traders are anticipating a short squeeze, with data from Coinglass revealing a move to $4,500 could put $ 1.35 billion in short positions at risk.
Ether ETFs have recorded a total of $461 million in flow, outpacing Bitcoin ETFs, which posted only $404 million. Farside data shows that over the past five trading days, U.S.-based spot Ether ETFs saw $326.6 million in net inflows compared to $253.2 million for Bitcoin ETFs.
