Governor Newsom Plans “ Trump Corruption Coin” as Political Counter to Trump’s Memecoin Moves

The California Governor Gavin Newsom has revealed plans to launch a “Trump Corruption Coin” to mock President Trump’s controversial crypto ventures, especially his memecoins.

During an interview with the Pivot podcast, Gavin Newsom announced plans to launch a “Trump Corruption Coin”  to compete with Trump’s memecoin and also expose how absurd his crypto projects are.

Newsom Mocks Trump with “Corruption Coin”

Newsom said his campaign for Democracy will include the memecoin, using the funds to engage voters and adjust election districts.

As part of his broader efforts to troll Donald Trump’s branding, Newsom opened an online store selling MAGA-style merchandise, including red hats labelled “NEWSOM WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING”.

In addition, he used  his official press office account on X to copy Trump’s signature all-caps tweets, such as;

“Except for what is written and broadcast in the fake news, I now have the highest poll numbers I’ve ever had, some in the 60s and even 70s. Thank you. Make America Gavin again!!!— GCN”

Trump Secures Billions from Crypto Ventures

According to The New Yorker, an American Magazine, Donald Trump has earned around  $2.4 billion from his crypto-related ventures, which accounts for 44% of his total wealth.

In his 2025 public financial disclosure filed with the Office of Government Ethics, Trump reported holding 15.75 billion WLFI governance tokens following his previous sale of some of the tokens that generated  $57.4 million in earnings.

Additionally, Trump Media and Technology Group reported holding Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies worth over $2 billion.

Although Trump embraced crypto to maintain his public profile, his massive profits from digital assets, including his personal memecoin and NFTs, have raised concerns over potential conflict of interest.
