Robinhood Launches Tokenized Stock Trading and RWA Blockchain for EU Investors

Robinhood launches tokenized stock trading and a blockchain for real-world assets (RWAs) in the EU.

Robinhood is expanding into real-world assets (RWAs) by launching a new blockchain for tokenized stocks and allowing EU users to trade them.

Robinhood Unveils Tokenized U.S. Stocks and Perpetual Futures

The new layer-2 network, built on Arbitrum, will support the issuance of over 200 tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs), allowing European investors to access U.S. assets, the company announced on Monday.

Robinhood’s stock tokens will be available for trading 24/5 with zero commission fees. The company also revealed the rollout of perpetual futures for eligible traders in the EU, offering access to derivatives with up to 3x leverage.

Meanwhile, trades will be processed through Bitstamp, the crypto exchange Robinhood recently acquired for $200 million.

While Robinhood’s offering is significant, it isn’t the first to bring tokenized stocks to Europe. Gemini has already introduced a tokenized version of MicroStrategy (MSTR) shares, giving investors exposure to the Bitcoin-focused company.

Robinhood is stepping up its crypto plans. Just days after launching micro futures for Bitcoin, XRP, and Solana, which let traders enter the market with less money, the company announced a new tokenization project.

Robinhood Expands Crypto Push

In May, it bought Canadian crypto firm WonderFi for $179 million to help grow its operations. The company is also pushing for clear rules in the U.S. on tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs) like stocks and bonds.

It sent a proposal to the SEC for a national framework and plans to launch the Real World Asset Exchange. This platform will let people trade RWAs off-chain while settling transactions on the blockchain.

The RWA market is now worth over $24 billion, mostly made up of private credit and U.S. Treasury debt. But tokenized stocks still account for less than $400 million of that.

Robinhood also rolled out a tokenization project and launched micro futures for Bitcoin, XRP, and Solana, making it easier for traders to invest with smaller amounts of money.
