Melania Memecoin Gains After Trump Promotes Documentary on First Lady

The Melania coin is up 15% in the last week, trading around $0.1675, following a private White House screening of the Brett Ratner-directed documentary on January 24.

MELANIA coin overshadowed higher-value assets in the cryptocurrency space, which has been fueled by the hype around the upcoming documentary on First Lady Melania Trump.

The film, which offers behind-the-scenes access to Melania’s role leading up to President Trump’s second inauguration, is set for global release on January 30.

Data from Coinglass also shows that speculative activity spiked, with open interest in MELANIA’s derivatives jumping 17% over the last 24 hours.

US President Donald Trump took to X to promote the documentary, calling it a “Must Watch.”

The Trump family has earned a whopping $28 million from Amazon for the rights to their upcoming documentary.

MELANIA came into the spotlight alongside the Official Trump (TRUMP) token right before Trump’s presidential inauguration last year, sparking widespread controversy.

As a result, MELANIA has plunged nearly 98% from its $13.05 all-time high reached in January 2025.

The TRUMP token has also remained mired in a bear market, down 93% since its launch and now trading around $4.80.

MELANIA And TRUMP Under Pressure

A Forbes report earlier this year said the President had boosted his net worth by $3 billion from the previous year, with $2 billion of that coming from crypto efforts, split between his World Liberty Financial company and a meme coin.

Critics, including Anthony Scaramucci, have continued to label MELANIA and TRUMP as “gambling tokens.” They continue to argue that they risk turning political influence into a purchasable commodity and could undermine the presidency’s and the broader crypto industry’s credibility.

Others believe the Trump family’s ventures could derail progress on the cryptocurrency market structure bill.

Despite the continued concerns, the Melania coin’s short-term rally underscores growing interest in celebrity-themed crypto assets, even as the TRUMP coin struggles to regain investor confidence.
