Pump.fun Meme Coin Creators Place Golden Trump Bitcoin Statue Near US Capitol

Meme coin creators placed a gold statue of US President Donald Trump holding a Bitcoin outside of the US Capitol as an ode to his pro-crypto stance and as part of a Pump.fun livestream stunt.

“This is a statement, this is to show everybody that without the president, we could never have had this mass adoption of Bitcoin, of cryptocurrencies, of all these big institutions buying Bitcoin,” said one of the organizers of the statue, Hichem Zaghdoudi, during an interview with DC News Now.

The statue was placed opposite Union Square in Washington, DC, which is also approximately a mile away from the White House.

Trump Aims To Make US The Crypto Capital Of The World

Trump openly embraced digital assets during his election campaign, and vowed to make the US the crypto capital of the world if he got elected. Crypto industry executives bankrolled his campaign.

Since entering the White House for his second term, Trump has acted on his promises. He signed an executive order to establish a US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, and also established a White House digital asset working group.

That group has since issued recommendations via a multi-page report to regulatory agencies including the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) that will help them align with Trump’s mission to make the US a crypto capital.

The Trump family are also involved in several crypto ventures. Prior to entering office, the family launched the Official Trump (TRUMP) and Melania (MELANIA) meme coins. The Trumps have launched World Liberty Financial as well, a decentralized finance platform that recently debuted its WLFI token on several leading crypto exchanges.

Trump Statue Part Of A Pump.fun Livestream

The organizers of the statue, most of whom are anonymous, have also created a meme coin on the popular Solana launchpad Pump.fun, and have created several livestreams aimed at boosting the token. The statue is part of this publicity campaign.

One of the organizers said in a livestream on Tuesday that the statue was made from “extremely hard foam,” so that it is light and easy to handle.

X posts by the organizers show a machine carving the head of the Trump statue and multiple people carrying the status into place.

The statue is 12 feet tall, which is equal to 3.6 meters, and the organizers said they hope Trump will see it. However, he is currently in the UK.

This is the third status to appear on the National Mall this year that has referenced Trump, but is the first that shows its support of him.

In June, an eight-foot tall statue dubbed “Dictator Approved” appeared in the same location in protest of Trump’s highly-criticized military parade days earlier.

That same month, a statue of a gold television showing a video of Trump dancing with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein also appeared on the strip.
