The developers of $SHIB have recently launched a bridge, allowing users to swap assets from Shibarium, its layer-2 chain to Ethereum network and vice versa.
Lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama announced that the Shibarium Beta Bridge was available for public testing.
“Shibarium Beta Bridge has gone live for public testing! Be among the first to try out this revolutionary cross-chain solution. Remember, always exercise caution and verify authenticity before connecting your wallet to any website. PLEASE DO NOT USE YOUR REAL ASSETS! Only faucets #ShibariumBeta $BONE $SHIB $LEASH”, @LucieShib via Twitter
The recent update signifies progress in the development of Shibarium.
Shibarium is tailored specifically for the Shiba ecosystem on the Ethereum blockchain to combat the scalability challenges. It offloads transactions from the main chain (Ethereum), processes them independently, and then submits the data back to the Ethereum network. It is expected to facilitate faster and more cost-effective transactions for Shiba users, enhancing the overall efficiency and usability of the ecosystem.
By transitioning to a full blockchain, the team sets the groundwork for future developments such as Shib the Metaverse, ShibaSwap DEX, Shibacals, Shiba Eternity, Shiboshis etc.
Testnet hits milestone transaction count
A week ago, Puppyscan – the testnet of Shibarium achieved a landmark 31 million transactions. The total blocks in the ecosystem also rose significantly to 1,778,148, accompanied by a growth in wallet addresses to 17,062,382.

The achievement comes just about a month before the launch of Shibarium as confirmed by Shytoshi Kusama. He revealed via a blogpost that the long awaited layer-2 will be unveiled alongside other products at the Blockchain Futurist Conference and ETHToronto between 15 and 16 August.
“We are proud to announce that we are the Title Sponsor of the Blockchain Futurist Conference, Eth Toronto and Eth Women! At this location, the completed Worldpaper will be exhibited, all Shib branded projects will be published and Treat will be published in detail for the first time. In addition, it is very likely that we will also discuss and release the L2 Shibarium that we have been waiting for,” he said.
The team achieved another noteworthy milestone last week as BONE, one of the native assets of Shibarium got listed on Changelly.
