Snoop Dogg unveils tour-evolving NFTs

Rapper Snoop Dogg has released a new NFT collection called ‘The Snoop Dogg Passport Series’ ahead of his 7 July summer tour in Vancouver.

The collection will grant users and holders exclusive access to events, behind-the-scenes content and merchandise. It was developed in collaboration with Transient Labs and is described on the official website as the ‘first ever evolving tour collectible’.

According to the description, the Passport will update to showcase scenes and footage from the rapper’s tours. It will also showcase exclusive Snoop Dogg artwork to holders. The move yet again demonstrates the use of non-fungible tokens in building fan engagement and rewarding loyalty with unique properties that hold monetary and sentimental value.

Snoop Dogg said in a statement to Variety: “With the Passport Series, I can give my fans the opportunity to travel the world with me — no one’s ever done that…I’ve always been a pioneer, and digital merch is part of the future. I’m hoping other artists can see what I’m doing and continue to innovate on their own.”

Chris Ostoich, chief operating officer at Transient Labs, also expressed delight in his team’s role.

“Having the opportunity to connect one of the world’s greatest artists to fans in such a creative and engaging way is a great representation of what we’re all about at Transient Labs,” he said.

According to the website, one passport costs $45 or 0.025 ETH and users can make purchases with their credit card or crypto wallet.

Snoop Dogg’s earlier crypto adventures

Snoop Dogg is one of the earliest celebrity proponents of crypto and NFTs and he has remained consistent in advocating for adoption. In 2021, he partnered with Crypto.com to release his premiere collection ‘A Journey with the Dogg’. Later in the same year, he collaborated with metaverse gaming platform, The Sandbox to create his virtual world called SnoopVerse.

He went on to release the first NFT music video powered by The Sandbox with his track ‘House I Built’.

Speaking on his metaverse achievements and relating them to his real-life endeavours, Snoop said: “The ‘House I Built’ track draws a parallel between how I’ve constructed my life and career and how I’m building out my Snoopverse virtual world in The Sandbox. Whether in the metaverse or the universe, it’s about keeping it real, being yourself, and making the most of every opportunity’.”
